RAM Latency Calculator
Convert memory speed and CL into approximate CAS latency.
The figure represents theoretical CAS latency in nanoseconds based on CL and MT/s.
What this tool does
CAS latency and memory data rate together estimate the time for a basic memory access in nanoseconds. This makes kits with different CL ratings easier to compare, but it does not describe total system latency or performance in every workload.
How to use it
Enter the values requested by the calculator and check the result together with the notes shown below it.
Practical example
Use a realistic example from your own setup to compare scenarios. The result is a reference, not a replacement for manufacturer specifications.
How to interpret the result
Treat the result as an estimate whenever real-world factors are not available to the browser. For hardware, network or safety decisions, verify the relevant technical specifications.
Frequently asked questions
How is CAS latency calculated in nanoseconds?
With 2000 × CL ÷ speed in MT/s. For example, DDR5-6000 at CL30 gives about 10 ns.
Is a lower CL always better?
Only at the same speed. Faster memory with a higher CL can have equal or lower real latency in nanoseconds.
