FPS ↔ Hz Calculator
Compare FPS with display refresh rate and calculate frame time.
What this tool does
FPS counts how many frames the game renders each second; Hz counts how often the display refreshes. This calculator converts both values into frame and refresh intervals so you can compare responsiveness without confusing the two measurements.
How to use it
Enter the values requested by the calculator and check the result together with the notes shown below it.
Practical example
Use a realistic example from your own setup to compare scenarios. The result is a reference, not a replacement for manufacturer specifications.
How to interpret the result
Treat the result as an estimate whenever real-world factors are not available to the browser. For hardware, network or safety decisions, verify the relevant technical specifications.
Frequently asked questions
Is there any point in having more FPS than Hz?
It can reduce input latency in some games, although the monitor only shows as many images as its refresh rate allows.
What is frame time?
It is how long each image lasts: 1000 ÷ FPS, in milliseconds. At 60 FPS it is 16.67 ms and at 144 FPS about 6.94 ms.
