Monitor Size Calculator
Get the approximate width, height and area of a display from its diagonal and aspect ratio.
What this tool does
Enter a screen diagonal and aspect ratio to estimate the visible width and height. The result describes the image area, not the outer case or bezel, so it is useful when comparing desk fit and screen dimensions across formats.
How to use it
Enter the values requested by the calculator and check the result together with the notes shown below it.
Practical example
Use a realistic example from your own setup to compare scenarios. The result is a reference, not a replacement for manufacturer specifications.
How to interpret the result
Treat the result as an estimate whenever real-world factors are not available to the browser. For hardware, network or safety decisions, verify the relevant technical specifications.
Frequently asked questions
How are width and height calculated?
From the diagonal and the aspect ratio: together they define the right triangle formed by width, height and diagonal.
Do two monitors with the same diagonal have the same area?
No. A 34" 21:9 is shorter than a 34" 16:9, so its area is smaller even though the diagonal is the same.
